I...ah...yeah. Who is directing this again? <click, click, scrooooollllll> Stephen Norrington. Humph. Could have sworn it was Tim Burton. It has the same general look and feel as Batman, which I've seen 60 some-odd times, and he's worked on a few other films that I've liked (Blade, Return to Oz, Young Sherlock Holmes). I also like the cast. Everyone knows Sean Connery and, on first glance, the rest are unkowns, but once I scroll through their filmographies on the exhaulted IMDB, I realize that I DO know who they are. Moulin Rouge, A Walk to Remember, Rock Star, the tv version of La Femme Nikita...man, these people have done some pretty decent stuff. I don't know about the plot since the trailer doesn't really GIVE one. It makes you wonder if there is one at all. I've never read the comic, so I have absolutely no idea what the purpose of this group is or the history behind the characters, which doesn't help at all, but I'll go see it anyway. Could be fun.
It wasn't too bad. I was quite pleasantly surprised. It was worth the $7 to get in, but Pirates of the Caribbean gave me more for the same price. The action sequences in LXG were awesome. Sean Connery played the father-figure who just happens to be able to kick some ass. Peta Wilson's character, the vampiress Mina, and Shane West as Tom Sawyer stole the show, though. Mina was a great combination of the cool and collected scientist with a dark, gruesome side. Shane West made a good Tom Sawyer by keeping Tom as a sharpshooting maverick and not playing up the hick-Missouri-boy angle. He didn't even have that strong an accent, to his credit. The plotline is rather thin, but what do you expect from a popcorn movie? Lots of explosions, intrigue, and fast chases...it sucked me in and took me on a great ride.

My Advice...
LXG is a fun movie with interesting characters, but if you have to choose between seeing this and Pirates of the Caribbean, choose the latter. LXG is an action movie with lots of bang, but not many laughs to soften the blows.
