Remakes annoy me. Let me just say that. The plot has been done, get over it. There's been at least two movies with the "Freaky Friday" plot ("Vice Versa" and "Freaky Friday"...whodathunkit?) and probably even more episodes of various television shows. There, I'm done with my pre-rant. I think Anna (the daughter) is going to annoy me something terrible. Tess (the mom) might be amusingly overprotective. The really funny parts of the trailer come after the two have switched places. It's rare that a simple trailer can make you giggle in your popcorn, but this one does. That's a good sign. Jamie Lee Curtis is a great actress, so I know she can at least pull off acting like a teenager. Lindsay Lohan is more of a wild card, but I think she might be able to do it, too. If nothing else, It should be worth the price of the ticket.

I am impressed. Truly! There were times during this movie where it could have gone south in a hurry and it didn't. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan were actually believable as a mother and daughter that had switched bodies. The mannerisms, the speech patterns...I don't know which were better: the writers or the actors. Anna wasn't annoying like I thought she'd be. As a matter of fact, I found myself liking her more as the movie went on. Hell, I was even tapping my foot to her band's music. Seriously, there was some great music in this movie. If nothing else, Anna's guitar solo (I wish I knew who REALLY played it) kicked some serious backside. It wasn't a gut-buster, but then I didn't think it would be. A giggle here, a snort there. It erred on the side of fable at some points, like during the wedding rehearsal speech, but that was a good choice on the part of the writers. The best parts of the movie were during the House of Blues concert and Anna's mother's encounter with the English teacher. Ohhh, that bit with the teacher was PRICELESS!
My Advice:
Go see it. It's not vital that you see it in the theater, so if it's the choice between seeing this and buying milk for the week, buy the milk, but at least see it when it comes out on video. The acting is amazing and it's perfect if you need a pick-me-up, feel-good movie fix.
