Why in the world do I want to see this movie? Theyve wrecked the characters from the tv show, as far as I can tell. Bo and Luke are total idiots and so is Daisy. Enos, who was cute in the show, is not attractive at all so how in the world could Daisy fall for him? Roscoe is nowhere to be found, which is probably a good thing because no one could beat James Bests portrayal. Cooter is missing as well. Uncle Jesse is less a father figure and more of a cohort to his nephews. Boss Hogg is the only character that comes close to being similar to the one in the show, but one character does not a movie make.
There arent any actors in the cast that I would go out of my way to see. Willie Nelson and Lynda Carter are the only ones that Im interested in seeing simply because I love Lynda Carter and I want to see how well Willie Nelson can act. Johnny Knoxville is obnoxious and I have NO idea how in the world he got a gig as an actor, although he does deliver the best line in the trailer (I never get tired of hearing him say that. Hee!). Seann William Scott is cute when hes not playing an imbecile. Unfortunately, this is one of those imbecile roles. Jessica Simpson? Ugh, why waste pixels on her?
So, why in the world do I want to see this movie? Two things: the car and the archery. The car because, hell, who doesnt want to see the General Lee airborne? Some of the finest stunt driving ever put to video was shown on that series and Im hoping there is more of the same in the movie. As for the archeryIve been shooting since I was about 7 (even though I havent shot in the past 6 years), so I can tell whos done their homework and who hasnt. While all of my friends were drooling over Orlando Blooms pointy ears and stair-surving prowess in Lord of the Rings, I was drooling over his archery form. HE did his homework. The Dukes trailer has a brief glimpse of Johnny Knoxville, or his stuntman, sitting in the window and shooting a bow. Im surprised they kept that for the movie because they would have had to teach Knoxville and Scott how to shoot. Would you want that gig? I sure wouldnt. |
