For the past two millenia, the Kurds have existed in the mountainous regions of
the Middle east, ranging approximately 200,000 square miles. This region is
commonly known as Kurdistan. Throughout their documented history
they have lived under the rule of many conquering forces.
The region is divided between Turkey, Iran, Syria,Iraq and Armenia since the early
20th century. The Kurds living in each of these regions have been brutally
repressed throughout time. The Kurds numbering between 30-50 million,
are the largest ethnic group without a nation to call their own.
