He was ruthless, deadly, and cunning, feared and respected by all. Kurama controlled plant-life, using them as weapons. Youkos have the reputation of being beautiful and Kurama was perfect proof of that. With his long silver hair and gleaming golden eyes, he has won, and broken, the hearts of many.

Detailed Story

Youko Kurama, the heartless youko, was once the greatest thief in all of Makai. He was feared and respected throughout the realm, using his wits, beauty, and skills to survive and climb the status ladder. However, during his long lifespan, he make many enemies, who wanted him dead. They sent a Hunter after the kitsune (fox!). Kurama evaded the Hunter for as long as he possible could, but in the end, it all concluded in a tragedy. The Hunter shot the youko and mortally wounded. Kurama's body died. Even though his body was lifeless, Kurama's spirit lived on. At the last moment, the cunning youko tore his soul from his body, escaping death for a while longer. He needed a vessel for his soul, so he traveled into the Ningenkai, finding an acceptable hiding place. The place was in the womb of a human woman, Minamino Shiori. There he stayed until Shiori gave birth to a little boy, who she named Shuichi. Little did she know that her baby bore the soul of a 400+ year old youko. Kurama grew up with the love of his mother Shiori (his father died while he was still a baby), but he still retained all his memories as a youko. He planned to leave as soon as he turned 10, when he will be strong enough. Kurama was very detached as a child, never comprehending the feeling of love. One day, when he was standing on a stool, reaching for a can, a pile of dishes came crashing down on top of him. Shiori, being the protective mother that she was, dove to protect the young boy. Her arms were scarred from the shards of the broken dishes because of it, but she only cared whether or not her Shuichi was alright. Only then did Kurama truly understand Shiori's love for him. He vowed to be a perfect and loving son to Shiori, and find a way to somehow repay her for all she's ever done for him. From then on, Kurama changed. He became a perfect son, loving and helpful. He worked hard in school, reaching the status as the number one student. Everyone loved him, especially the girls (Why wouldn't they? Just look at him!). However, tragedy struck when Shiori became sick and had to be hospitalized. Her conditions were severe and her chances for survival were not very good. Kurama had to do something. Luckily, he was offered the opportunity to join two other demons, Hiei and Gokai, to steal the Three Reikai Treasures. One of them was the Mirror of Utter Dark (sorry, can't recall the Japanese name right now) that could grant a wish to the person who possessed it. The price for the wish was the person's life. Kurama did not care, as long as Shiori was saved, and stole the mirror. As Kurama was about to die, Yusuke offered part of his life, saving the reincarnated youko. In the end, Shiori was saved, Kurama lived and joined the Reikai Tantei, and the treasure was returned to the Reikai.
