     Clarence Albert, b. July 24, 1914 on the homestead in Hand County; growing to over six feet tall. He attended school through the eighth grade, which was a common practice in those days.
     He married Lorraine Louise Kruse, (b. 4 Jan 1932, at Highmore, Hyde County,) on 17 July 1952. The couple was charivaried not once, but three times; first by their north Highmore friends, then by their south Highmore friends and finally, by their friends from Ree Heights. After the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were put into the back of a pickup truck filled with oats and a snapping turtle and driven all over town.
    The family farmed on the Kruse homestead for the next 29 years before retiring to Ree Heights on an acreage in the southeast corner of town. Clarence kept a milk cow or two and they raised big  gardens. His pride and joy was a pumpkin he raised in 1983 that weighed in at  ?  pounds and had to be lifted with a tractor. They estimated 70-75 pies could be made from it. In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed working at the nursing home in Highmore.
    They are the parents of three children:
        1.) Karl Dean, b. 14 June 1953, at Pierre, Hughes County, SD. Following graduation in 1972, he joined the US Navy,  serving on the USS Ranger plane carrier. He was discharged in 1975. When he returned home he enrolled at SDSU, Springfield and attended four years in body work and diesel mechanics, graduating in 1980. Karl m. Diane Eilene
Schultz, b.4 Sep 1956, at Parkston, Hutchinson County, SD, on 30 June 1979 at Springfield, Bon Homme County,
SD. One son, Ryan Dean, b. 9 Sept 1981, Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, SD.
        2.) Marvin Ray, b. 1 May 1955, Pierre. Graduated from Highmore HS in 1973 then enrolled at the vocational school in Watertown, studying auto mechanics, graduating in 1973. He m. Elaine Starkey, (b. 27 Apr 1955 at Lepanto,
Poinsette County, AR)  on 14 June 1980 at Osceola, Mississippi County, AR. One daughter: Nancy Michelle, b. 13
Feb. 1984. Marvin works as a supervisor on electrical transformers.
        3.) Mavis Irene, b. 2 Jan 1957, Pierre. Was active in 4-H, an active horsewoman and g Feb. 1984. Marvin works as a supervisor on electrical transformers.

Pierre, Hughes County, SD.  Jill graduated in 1997 from Valentine High School, Valentine, NE. The Flemings make their home on a farm near Mullan, NE.
 Clarence and Lorraine divorced.  
    Clarence passed away in 1999 at the Veterans Hospital in Sturgis, SD and is buried in the national cemetery there. Lorraine second married George Abernathy. She has retired from the nursing home in Highmore and they  make their home in there.raduated from Highmore HS in 1975. She m. Joe Fleming at Mobridge, SD on 17 Oct. 1980. They have one daughter: Jill, b.  2 Dec. 1978, at
