Kumamoto City accommodation Suizenji Youth Hostel (0963719193) This is halfway from the city center to Suizenji garden. It is close to Misotenjin-mae tram on tram line 2 or 3. Higoji Minshuku (0963527860) The owner can pick you up from Kumamoto Station - you can call from the Kumamoto Station tourist information booth. It is on the hill behind the station with good views of the town. Rooms are 3500yen or 4200yen with breakfast. Komatsuso (0963522634) This is located 5 minutes north of Kumamoto station. Rooms cost 3500yen. Turn left on the main road in front of the station, Komatsuso is on your left - marked by a welcome sign. City Annex The hotel is only a 15 minute walk from the Shimitori main street. Rooms are large, with wooden floors and leather sofas. There are karaoke, jet-bath, sauna, satellite TV and video facilities available. Costs; weekdays 5500-6000yen (2200-1100) weekends 5500-12000yen (2200-1100) From Kumamoto City center, follow the tram tracks south over the shira-kawa river. Take the first road on your right (just before the water moon). Take the third road on your left. It is on this street on your right.. Dinks Dinks' rooms are large and futuristic with balconies overlooking the street. There are karaoke, jet-bath, sauna, satellite TV and video facilities. You will see two more bridges, at the second of these turn left. The hotel is just off this road on your right. Aso Aso Youth hostel (09676340804) This is a 20 minute walk from Aso station. There is also a bus (3 minutes). It charges 2450yen. Hiking maps are available from the owner. Take the bus from Aso station going towards Aso-san nishi. Get off at the first stop. The hotel check in is from 4pm-8pm. The front door is closed at 8pm. YMCA and Youth Hostel Aso hostel (09676350124) This is near Akamizu Station. It costs 2900yen for members and 3900yen for non members. Minami Aso Kokumin shukusha (0967670078) This is a 10 minute bus ride north of Akamizu station. Get off at the Kokumin shukusha bus stop. It costs 3800yen. Murataya Ryokan Youth Hostel (0967620066) It costs 2700yen for members, 3700yen for non-members. It is in Takamori, along the main street. Aso No Fumoto (09676320624) This is close to Aso station. It costs 4000yen without meals. The owner can pick you up from the station. Kokuminshukusha Aso (09676340111) This is only one minute away from Aso station. It costs 3900yen. Kokuminshukusha nakamura (09676340317 This is next door to Kokuminshukusha Aso. It also costs about 4000yen for a night. There is a hot spring next door "yumenoyu" - which is open from 1000 to 2130. Senomoto Youth hostel (09676440157) This youth hostel costs 2200yen members, 3300yen members. The English speaking manager will pick you up from Miyaji station if requested. The hostel is convenient for Kurokawa onsen. Minshuku Ryousensou (0967440650) This is probably the cheapest option in Kurokawa - it costs 6000yen per person. Amakusa Valencia The rooms have wooden floors, and leather sofas. The jet-baths are large. The rooms have karaoke, jet-bath, satellite TV and video. Costs; Saturdays 6500-9000yen (2200-1000), weekdays 5500-8000yen (2200-1000) This is on the 266, just before the second bridge, driving from the mainland. Pearl White The jet-baths are set in a beautiful outside wooden tub. There is a sea view from hotel windows. Rooms have karaoke, jet-bath, satellite TV and video. Costs; Saturdays 6500-7500yen (2200-1000) other days 5800-6800yen (2200-1100) It is on the 266, on the island connected by the 4th and 5th bridges. Amakusa Youth Hostel (0969223085) This costs 2780yen per night (4000yen with dinner and breakfast). The Youth hostel is a 15 minute walk from the center of Hondo. Turn left off the 324 at the Plaza Annex Hotel. Turn left at the sign for the hostel. Minshuku Hanagetsu (0969231459) This costs 3000yen per person per night (4500yen for dinner and breakfast). It is on the 324 turn left at the junction with Kiyama Medicines. You will pass Minami elementary school on your left. Take the first left. Carry straight on through one junction and the minshuku is on your left. Kawaura machi Kaijyou cottage (0969761526) It costs 5000yen per cabin plus 1000yen per person. Traveling on the 389 towards Amakusa Town, turn left just before Tomitsu Tunnel. This road takes you through Sakitsu Village and to the boat dock. Take a boat ride to the cottages. Mt Kuratake bungalows (0969643111) The bungalows are on the top of Kuratake mountain (682m) in Amakusa. They have bare tatami rooms with cooking facilities - you need to bring bedding and cooking equipment. Eight of the bungalows fit 4-6 people and cost 2620yen. The ninth fits about 20 people and costs 10500yen. Other accommodation Higo Ozu love hotels Driving towards Aso on the 57 you will pass a host of love hotels after Higo Ozu. . Look out for the palm trees/fireworks that mark one of the more extravagant. It costs 8000yen for the night (check in after 10pm) Chapel Christmas (Kumamoto airport) This hotel is hard to miss - look out for the giant Father Christmas, and fairy lights. In the garden is an illuminated reindeer pulling a sledge. The rooms are quite plain in comparison! Rooms have jet-baths and satellite TV. Costs; weekdays 4980yen (2100-1200) Fridays 5980yen (2100-1100) Saturdays 8980yen 2200-1000) Driving on road 28 from Kumamoto, take a right turn just south of Kumamoto airport. Hers Brighton (Central Kumamoto - Chuo town) Driving along the 218 towards the Matsuabase IC, you will go through Chuo Town. There will a supermarket on your left, and then a gas station on your right. Take the second road on your right after the gas station. It is at the end of this road. Amenities; karaoke, jet-bath, satellite TV and video. Costs; weekdays 5000-13000yen (2000-1100) weekends 5500-14300yen (2200-1100) Extra information; rooms have pachinko machines - and large double seated swings! The jet-bath is outside in a small walled garden. Boomerang (Hitoyoshi) Costs; Saturdays 6300-7500yen (2300-1000), other days 6300-7500yen (2200-1000) Take the road leaving Hitoyoshi IC. Upon reaching the T junction, turn right, then take the first road on your right. Boomerang is on this road on the right. Karaoke, jet-bath, video satellite and video are available. |
