The Way of Destiny

Destiny travels slowly but surely
Her way in twists and turns unfolds
From the darkness of our infant years
Through the energy of our juvenile days
Every sigh, every motion its piece supplying
In action and in lameness
With incurable thoroughness and detail
Sometimes through outstanding strides
Sometimes through awful fallings
She cuts her course with indefatigable dedication
And transports her goods with supreme safety
Many through wicked rigors
And also through stretching fits
By hard and will-breaking convolutions
By vexing and wearing ordeals
Hard to explain
Perplexing to understand
Why with such destiny companies warmly
And her way intimately twines
But through all we may keep our confidence
That our highest good it serves
And for our best she looks
For to our habitation her journey will end
With riches to bequeath enduringly
And she will not fail if we endure
