Free Speech Radio Network While the community radio movement has exploded
since the late 1960s, the government has done everything it can to limit the
access of ordinary citizens to the airwaves. The non-commercial broadcasting
domain is bursting at the seams with thousands of radio programmers and constituents
who urgently need more space for their visions and work. Pacifica is now the
caretaker of resources made deliberately scarce by two decades of bad government
policy. Rather than address this dilemma, the foundation has aligned itself
with the very state that has constricted public space by allowing corporations
to dominate the bandwidths. Instead of reviving the historic movement for
a broad noncommercial domain where people of all cultures and ideologies can
exchange ideas, the network's leadership has clearly chosen to capitalize
on its possession of the last big signal, noncommercial, independent airspace
in America. Those who would question this strategy quickly find themselves
on the wrong end of a pink slip.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect
Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common
defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to
ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the
United States of America.
