Nick names throught the years: Toddy, Toad, Clinger, Buckwheat, Big Mac (Trev was little Mac), and T.O.

Todd called butterflies "flutter bys". Makes more sense, doesn't it?

Favorite food as a toddler was raisins. We had to keep close watch when he headed for the sun porch. Those dead flies on the floor looked an awful lot like raisins to Todd, and he insisted on trying to eat them.

First black eye at 17 months. Tried riding his plastic duck from the second storey landing all the way down the steep steps. He aquired his love of FAST DRIVING at and early age.

Had difficulty pronouncing the "k" sound as a toddler, and substituted a "p" sound instead. Brought relatives to abrupt halt at the reunion when he said, "Mommy, do you want a _iss?"

Went to church with mom on Communion Day, and watched proceedings intently. When the usher passed the wine to our pew, Todd asked loudly, "Where's the beer for daddy?"

Todd screamed all the way through his first salon haircut at age 20 months, so mom cut his hair after that. Must have gotten carried away once when Todd about 4 years old. He looked in the mirror and sobbed, "Mommy, you balded me!"

First concussion and hospital stay was at age 4. Tied his bathrobe cord to the railing going up from the basement, and was "mountain climbing". The cement was not a soft landing when the rope let go. Had to recruit neighbour Mary for a quick trip to emergency.

Todd and Trevor saved their allowances to have their ears pierced. They went together for moral support, and when home headed down to the ball park to show them off. Jimmy English promptly dubbed them as the "Stud brothers"!

When ordering shirt labels Bill Keiffer, minor hockey coach, decided since he had 3 Machans on his team, their first initial should be added so he could tell them apart out on the ice. "Wild Bill" got quite a razzing when shirts for Todd, Tim and Trevor all cam back with T. Machan on them!

Wild Bill's nicknames for Todd & Trevor were Big Mac and Little Mac. Keith Mulvey changed that to T.O. and T.R.

Todd and Trev started playing hockey at age 3 & 5 on the sprout age team in Brussels. Yep...the Brussels Sprouts! Announcers at the hockey tournaments always got caught up on that one.

Spent countless hours at the Bluevale Dam directly in front of our home, swimming, and paddle boating in the summer, tobogganing, skating, and snow boarding in the winter. Mom supervised activities with binocular checks at the window, and announced lunch and supper for all the neighborhood kids by ringing her old school bell LOUDLY!

First year of dating, Friday nights Kendra came home on the bus with Todd. They made caesar salad while mom and Trev piled toppings on the pizza. Later we loaded the van with Machans, Gussos, Fairs, Peggs, and Fischers and headed to Turnberry P.S. for basketball, volleyball, and floorhockey. Mom was supposed to supervise, but couldn't resist joining in, and usually had the bruises to prove it!

Mike, Shane, Tim, Todd and Kendra liked renting movies to watch in the Machan rec room, with frequent intermissions for vicious "masking tape ball" fights and mowing down McCains deep & delicious chocolate cake. We never worried when they took Tim's trusty Sprint to pick up the movies. We knew if they ever got stuck they could just lift it out in the winter. In summer, the vibrations from Tim's big speaker system wouild jar it out! Tim never cared what movie the rest wanted. He liked the commercials best anyway.

Shared an appartment with Shane, Mark, and Stu on Bricker street in Waterloo while attending Wilfrid Laurier University in Honors Computing and Computer Technology. Had to begin working out there to build up muscles required to do 2 hours of dishes on Friday nights before rommies would let him leave for home. Vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning the bathrooms could wait until Mark's mom came down for a visit from Sault Ste. Marie. Meals consisted of spaghetti, white rice, and coffee, coffee, coffee for those 4:30 a.m. cram sessions.
