Korean Tae Kwon Do Academy

THE EDMONTON FELLOWSHIP OF MARTIAL ARTS & FITNESS

GENERAL INFORMATION:

A few years ago, members and parents of members of the Korean Tae Kwon Do Academy got together and formed The Edmonton Fellowship of Martial Arts & Fitness. The Fellowship is dedicated to helping students of the Korean Tae Kwon Do Academy by providing a support system to enable students and instructors to develop to their highest potential.

People often ask who are the members of the Fellowship? In truth all adult members of the Korean Tae Kwon Do Academy as well as the parents of children attending classes are all automatically members of the Fellowship.

The Fellowship has been fairly active in the past three years raising about $75,000 through various fund raising events during the past year.

Some of the things the Fellowship supports are to:

� Subsidize students for summer camp.
� Purchase new training equipment.
� Host the annual Christmas Party
� Host the annual Summer Barbeque
� Subsidize costs relating to various tournaments.

The Fellowship counts on its members to volunteer for the various fundraising events, as well as help coordinate special events i.e. The Annual Christmas Party, Summer Barbeque, Concession Stand at the Korean Tae Kwon Do Academy�s tournament.

Playing an active role in the Fellowship does not take a great commitment on your part, your participation is solely on a volunteer basis. The Korean Tae Kwon Do Academy and the Fellowship have formed a great relationship over the years, and through the various fund raising events and social outings parents and students have built friendships that will last a lifetime.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

The Fellowship meets at various times throughout the year. The meeting date and time is posted in the Academy�s newsletter and on the bulletin board at the Do Jang. Members who attend the meeting have input into the decisions being made as well as a vote.

Should you choose to attend a meeting we would appreciate if the following rules would be followed in order to facilitate a productive meeting:

1. All members who attend a meeting have a vote.
2. Meetings shall be chaired by the President of the Fellowship.
3. Prior to attending a meeting members must review the minutes from the previous meeting, which will be posted on the message board at the Do Jang.
4. An agenda will be posted on the message board. This agenda will be strictly adhered to in order to keep meetings on time.
5. Members may add items that they wish to discuss to the agenda. These items must be added no later than 2 days prior to the meeting.
6. The member who adds an item to the agenda must be prepared to discuss the item. I.e. If a member has an idea on a fund raising event than that member is expected to have researched their idea and will be expected to take charge of the fund raising event if approved.
7. All members who attend will have a chance to voice their opinion.
8. All expenditures and other decisions associated with the Fellowship are made at these meetings. A vote will be held on each item and the majority determines the outcome.
9. No fund raising is to be done by any person/group outside of the Fellowship and without first being approved through the process as described above.

There will be times that not everyone is happy with the decisions made, but please keep in mind that the Fellowship was formed in order to help provide all students with the tools necessary to better themselves as martial artists.

VOLUNTEERING:

All events that require volunteers will be posted on the message board as well as in the Korean Tae Kwon Do Newsletter.
