A unique blaster weapon developed by the arms manufacturers of Geonosis, the sonic blaster was carried by Geonosian soldier drones, and was devastatingly powerful. However, in the hands of a non-Geonosian, the sonic blaster was clumsy and awkward to hold: as the Geonosians had three chitinous fingers on each hand, which could rotate 270 degrees, their blasters were designed to be comfortable in their grasp. The main grip of the weapon was located in the middle of the thin stock, along with the primary trigger. A secondary trigger was located at the end of the blaster, and was activated by the soldier pulling the weapon into its shoulder. On the other end was the bulbous muzzle, which emitted a ball of energy along with a distinctive warbling sound. When the projectile hit its target, the ball smashed, sending globs of energy in all directions. Thus, sonic blasters were very difficult to block with an energy shield or lightsaber. Sonic blasters were especially deadly at close-quarters, as the energy would be focused towards the target more than if it was allowed to spread, giving it much more power. The weapon also produced a strong kick-back when fired. For these reasons, sonic blasters were rarely used in the confines of the Geonosian hives, as the blasts could obliterate whole hives and damage the rocky foundations. |
As the Geonosians themselves were computer generated in Attack of the Clones, so too were their sonic blasters |
