As well as his dangerous Mandalorian battle armour,
Jango Fett carried a jetpack which, like the infamous
armour, carried a deadly surprise.
Jango had two types of jetpack at his disposal; his
small, lightweight jetpack and another which carried
a larger-bore missile. The smaller of the two not
only afforded Jango seemingly-supernatural mobility
in the air, but it too carried a powerful missile. A
missile launcher through the middle of the jetpack
could be loaded with a warhead or a concussion
missile, both deadly at close range. A missile thrust
vent was located on the bottom of the silver-and-blue
jetpack, along with two rocket vectoring nozzles.
Jango aquired the jetpack while chasing down a bounty on the Outland Station run by Fett's partner Rozzata. He ran into a merchant trying to sell the jetpack to a dejected customer, and traded him his life for the rocket pack. Jango used the new jetpack to track down his elusive prey. He later used it again on Geonosis, after his other jetpack was destroyed in a fight on Kamino with Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, after an angry reek trampled over Jango during a battle with Mace Windu, the jetpack malfunctioned. Fett attempted to soar out of danger as Windu bore down on him, but the jetpack was too badly damaged and refused to function. Mace sliced the warhead from the top of the jetpack, as well as Jango's head from his neck. |
