| One of the droid walkers employed by the Commerce Guild to aid the Seperatists, the homing spider droid was a formidable force in battle. Like other battle droids owned by the Commerce Guild, the homing spider droid was originally developed to enforce the Guild's laws and bills, making sure customers stumped up on time. However, the droids were easily adapted to the battlefield. Effective against ground-based and airborne targets, the droids could cover wide areas of the warzone thanks to their six all-terrain legs. Weaponry came in the form of two dish-shaped laser cannons which supplied sustained fire against an enemy, while variable weapon mounts allowed other armaments to be affixed to the droid. Sensor equipment fitted to the homing spider allowed the droid to lock onto and keep track of moving enemies. The homing spider droid was one of the first Confederate droid tanks deployed in the Clone Wars. They were present on Geonosis when the Army of the Republic invaded, and aided in the defense of the Confederate landing sites. They were able to down chunks of the Republic forces from long range, but even its armoured body core was eventually bested by superior firepower. |
