Tank droids had been used in various forms through-
out history, and the Corporate Alliance tank droid was
the lastest addition to that series.
Created by the Corporate Alliance to protect their
factories and businesses, the tank droid was later
deployed in the Clone Wars. The Corporate Alliance
allied itself with Count Dooku's Seperatists, and the
tank droid became part of its growing army, along with
a variety of other combat droids. The Corporate Alliance
tank droids were large automatons with a huge central
wheel supported by four small outrigger wheels. The
droid could roll into and out of battle on their single
high-traction drive tread, and was equipped with a variety of weapons systems mounted on arms. It also featured various sensors above the two photoreceptor 'eyes' on the front of the droid.
During the Clone Wars, the tank droids were dispatched across the galaxy to defend various Seperatist bases. The Army of the Republic encountered numerous tank droids while attempting an attack on the Confederate-held planet of Thule. They were also used in many other battles, and could batter their way through enemy lines, running down any clonetroopers who were unfortunate enough to get in their way. |
