| Never one to hide his opinions, Orn Free Taa was an outspoken senator, though surprisingly, he was genuinely concerned for the well-being of his homeworld and its people. Orn Free Taa was a Rutian Twi'lek from Ryloth, and was distinguished by his four lekku. This symbolized power and accomplishment in Twi'leki culture, as did corpulence in older Twi'leks - thus, Orn Free Taa was known on Ryloth as a very accomplished Twi'lek. Taa became somewhat decadent while serving as a Senator on Coruscant. He used his wealth to buy gaudy robes, beautiful Twi'lek aides and a lavish penhouse in the governmental district. Orn Free Taa had been a vocal opponent of Chancellor Valorum, and used his position aboard the Financial Appropriations Committee to propogate his agenda against Valorum. Taa worked with Senator Palpatine to ensure Mas Amedda became Valorum's vice-chair, thus plaguing the Chancellor with more scandal. When Palpatine replaced Valorum as Supreme Chancellor, Orn Free Taa continued to support him, though he was sure to remain a stickler to the letter of the law. He called for the Military Creation Act to be delayed after Senator Amidala was nearly assassinated, though it was eventually passed. Taa remained as Ryloth's representative throughout the Clone Wars. |
