Ps 4
2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity & seek after leasing?
3 But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself; the Lord will hear when I call unto him.
6 There be many that say, "Who will shew us any good?" Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
8 I will both lay me down in peace & sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
verse 2, How long will we turn from Christ? How long will we love our material things, our falsehoods & lies?
verse 3, The Lord has separated his children from the rest, for himself. He hears our pleas & prayers as the shephard hears the bleating of his sheep.
verse 6, Many will ask where there is good. They will want to be shown where the good is in anything. This verse offers a request that the Lord's light (good) be revealed in us. That it show in our countenance. Visible to those who doubt.
verse 8, I will not fear the things of this world...I will find rest & safety in Christ. I will be able to sleep peacefully as do the sheep, knowing my Shephard is watching over me at all times.
Commentary:
It is so hard in these times to find any good in anything. I imagine it will only get worse as the final days approach. I can only hope that the light of Christ will shine in me like a beacon so bright that no man will be able to mistake it. That people will be able to look upon me & say..."There is good in her." I believe that if they can find good in one thing, that will be enough for them to grasp ahold of & cling to in the end. Those of us able to light the world on his behalf may be the only thing the lost have left to help them find their way. May God bless us with the ability to shine on, even when it is darkest.
