Ps 12:2

"They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak."

So many times, people look at a person and say one thing with their mouth but, deep in their heart they feel completely different. I personally do not understand the point in smooth talking a person. I always assume they just think we are too stupid to figure it out. They are wrong. Eventually God reveals the truth to us. He watches over us. I often ask myself, why? Why do they have to be untrue? What is so difficult about being honest and open. Are they afraid of exposing the darkness that lies within them? Little good it does if God shines a light on it for all to see in the end. The serpent also had a smooth tongue and flattering words. He deceived. He drug Adam and Eve into the heart of evil. We have to always be on guard to avoid people like this in order to keep our robes clean for Christ. This is not an easy task. So many people have spent years perfecting the deception they speak with their tongues. They will say ANYTHING in order to gain your trust. They end up destroying it in the long run. Trust isn't an easy achievement. However, I know that I can always trust my Father in everything. He will never forsake me as mortals do. I will never be disappointed or hurt by God. What a comfort in such an evil world. A world where words no longer hold any true meaning. They are most often spoken with the purpose to deceive. Or to slay the very heart of another. I too, am not blameless. I have often times done these things myself or even been drug into it by others. It's not fair to the people involved and you pay the price not only for your wrong doing but, for the pain you caused another. However, when we stay in Christ...He guards our sinful tongues and helps us keep a closer eye on the silly thing!
