Assistant Consultant: (April 2005 - To date) Real Estate Solutions, Index Consulting, Inc.
Briefly, A Tokyo-based consultancy, INDEX helps companies of all sizes find the right locations for their facilities, manage construction and renovation projects, and run their operations with local facilities and administrative support.

Responsibilities: Due Dilligence, Urban Planning, e-Solutions, Process optimization.

Teaching Assistant (TA): (October 2003 – March 2004): Design Studio, Undergraduate 3rd Year, Department of Architecture, University of Tokyo, Japan.
Responsibilities: The projects were ‘Renovation of an urban school’ and ‘Redesigning and Renovating an Urban School Premise’. Worked as an assistant to the Studio Director ensuring collective involvement in project development, providing design inputs where applicable through reasoning and trial and error methods.

Teaching Assistant (TA): (October 2002 – March 2003): Design Studio, Undergraduate 3rd Year, Department of Architecture, University of Tokyo, Japan.
Responsibilities: The project was ‘Design of a new-age facility for the elderly’. Worked as an assistant to the Studio Director, provided personalized comments and guidelines of design developments.

Lecturer: (1997-1999): Discipline of Architecture, Khulna University, Bangladesh.

History of Architecture I & II: Egyptian, Greek and Roman Architectural history and development.
Climate & Design I & II: Architectural design methods and processes for tropical climate.
Design Studio I & II: Fundamental design principle of 2D and 3D composition, processing and developing creative design problems, preparing students to deal with space and object. Introducing fundamentals of design and aesthetics to students through guided methods.
Graphics Studio I & II: Teaching architectural language, basic graphic drawing techniques, making architectural presentations, processing and making projects to suit current needs.
Landscape Architecture I: Fundamentals of landscape theories and getting familiar with landscape elements and processing design projects.
Design Studio IX & X: Assisting studio director in program formulation. Guided full-scale design projects. Helped develop working drawings for individual design projects.

PREVIOUS OFFICE EXPERIENCE:

Nihon Sekkei (May 2000- October 2002): Worked at Nihon Sekkei, a reputed design office in Japan as a part-time employee.
Projects:
Roppongi Campus Documentation: Participated through the complete process of documentation project of University of Tokyo, Roppongi campus. The basic tiers were site surveying, formulation of raw drawings for annotations, consult existing drawings, and prepare complete CAD drawings of the project. Preparation of CAD drawings was solely undertaken.
Busena Golf Resort, Okinawa : Was a part of the development team for Busena Golf Resort Design and produced proposals along with the team.

CERTIFICATE COURSE:

Completed the Japanese Language, Culture and Affairs Level One Course given from April, 1999 to September, 1999 at the International Center, the University of Tokyo.

CONDUCTED RESEARCH:

Doctoral Dissertation Title: A Study on the Applications of Environment Behavior Research in Architectural Design Practice of Japan.

M.Engg. in Architecture Research: ‘A Figurative Study of Louis Kahn’s Capitol Complex at Dhaka: Analysis through Shape and Shape Grammars Theory.’

Graduate Research: 'Exploring the applicability of electronic data retrievers as a tool for precision mapping of human behavior for Environmental Design Researchers'.


B.Arch Thesis Project: Design of the National Secretariat at Dhaka, Bangladesh, and a thesis on the work of Louis I Kahn’s Capitol Project at Dhaka and relationship with the B.Arch thesis design as executed on the Master Plan of Kahn.

Research Student: (1999-2000): Nagasawa Lab, Department of Architecture, University of Tokyo.

PUBLICATIONS/WORKSHOPS/DESIGNS:

Conference: Identifying Features of Healthcare Facility Design as a Means to Contain the Spread of Epidemic Infectious Diseases’ presented at the international conference titled ‘New Technologies for Urban Safety of Mega Cities in Asia’ held at the University of Tokyo, October 30-31, 2003.

Design Competition: Participated in the International DuPont 2000 Design Competition on the project of ‘A Cancer Treatment and Preventive Studies Retreat’ at LaJolla, California, USA.

IYSH Workshop: Participated in the ‘Housing Seminar in Commemoration of the IYSH (International Year of Shelter for the Homeless) held in Tokyo, Japan, August 20 – 27, 2002, sponsored by Japan Housing Association and supported by The Building Center of Japan.

Tokyo Story : Participated in the ‘Tokyo Story’ workshop, a joint collaboration between Architecture Association (AA), London, Berlage Institute, Rotterdam, and the University of Tokyo, on the propagation of Urban Prototypes following the ‘EOTM’ theory, conducted by Raoul Bunschoten. [ website ]

Ramen Architecture : Participated in the ‘Ramen Architecture’ workshop hosted by Department of Architecture, the University of Tokyo, conducted by guest professors from Vienna Institute of Technology, Austria, on the use of Form Z in terms of geometries of knots in the urban fabric, held in April, 2000.

Built Project: Designed and supervised a national monument and cenotaph in memory of the martyrdom of BirShreshtha Noor Mohammad and his fellow freedom fighters at Kashimpur, Jessore, Bangladesh.

Consultant Partner, (1997-1999): Founder member, Architect’s Den, a design atelier located at Khulna, Bangladesh. Designed and supervised two full-scale residential projects and a renovation project.

CREATIVE DESIGN EXPERIENCE:

Designed and developed web sites with static and dynamic features for Professional Organizations and Community Support portals. Responsibilities spanning from Concept Development to Overall Implementation and Maintenance. Also designed and printed posters, magazines, and brochures for different organizations. AWARDS:

Monbugakusho Scholarship: (1999-2005) Awarded Japanese Government Scholarship for pursuing Masters and Doctoral studies in the Department of Architecture at the University of Tokyo.

EXTRACURRICULAR:

Announcer: (March, 2003 - To Date) Working as a part-time radio announcer at the Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK), Japanese national broadcaster, in the Bengali Section since 31 March 2003.

News Caster: Worked with the Radio Bangladesh (Bangladesh Betar), national radio broadcaster of Bangladesh, as a part-time local English news caster from October 1997 through September 1998.
