Support FamiliesOur idea is to find 3 to 4 families who live near University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Northern Colorado, Colorado College at Colorado Springs, Colorado State University, Regis University, Colorado School of Mines and University of Denver to voluteer to be "support families" for our keiki. Once I have at least one of these families in place and have sent out a notice to the keiki, then I'd schedule college visits accordingly. But first, I need at least one family. It would be a lot easier if there were 3 or 4, but I'll take one. Naturally, I will be opening my house to all of the keiki who are here in Denver, so there's a start! Like I said, this is an appeal, and I would like to call on all of you help if you can! This is not a time consuming thing. I want to set this up so that the kids have someone they can call if they need something or have an emergency or just want a place to remind them of home. For all of us who went to college without any family nearby, we know how hard this can be. Granted, if the kids are older and have been in college for a couple of years, they probably won't need us. But on the same token, I remember how hard it was to come up with the money to buy tickets home on holidays. Please, anyone, someone, contact me if you're interested. Other than that, I'm working on future get togethers, especially for those of you who live on the outskirts. Believe me, I'm willing to drive out even if there's only one of you!
