Not Familiar with Windstar? The Windstar Foundation was founded in 1976 by singer/songwriter and environmentalist John Denver, along with Aikido Master Tom Crum. Windstar is a non-profit environmental education organization which promotes a holistic approach to addressing environmental concerns. Windstar is the recognition that each one of us is part of, and responsible for, the quality of life on planet Earth; and that which affects any one of us, affects us all. What is a Connections Program? The Windstar Connections Program is a regional grassroots outreach program of the Windstar Foundation. The mission of the Windstar Connection Program is to inspire individuals in their local areas to make responsible choices and take direct personal actions to achieve a peaceful and environmentally sustainable future. Windstar Connections meet, network, and carry out projects and forums of an action-oriented, educational nature. Fundamental goals include raising environmental awareness around the world and developing leadership potential in all people, so that we can be more involved, informed, responsible citizens. Connections groups are organized and developed by individuals to work at the local level, in alignment with the Windstar Foundation, on issues of global importance. After meeting for lunch, we volunteered a few hours helping the Salvation Army at their Holiday Distribution Center. We had a great time playing with all the toys - and even got some work done!
