This is MUSIC!

"The hills are alive with the sound of our music - and if you don't like it then you can fuck off to some other hills"

Yes, my own personal little hobby horse - MUSIC ! Who said the opening quote? Answers on a postcard to....

Music is very special to me, and certainly we have lived through a lot of musical changes. It was our generation who was born at the death of punk, grew up while the Smiths reigned, came to listen to music during the reign of Jive Bunny, Kylie Minogue and the Firm; Was too young to remember the Madchester revolution and finally came into our own with the advent of Britpop. Now we are older and we have lived through the origin and evolution of Dance music from the original shitty rave to the brilliance of Big Beat.
Of course, this summary in no way reflects my own personal views...

The Bands...

Blur

- probably my favourite group of all time. Got into them around Country House, seen them live, got all the albums...sheer class

Manic Street Preachers

- Definitely high up on the list of Great Bands - Gold Against the Soul, being one of the top albums of all time...

Radiohead

- And now everyone likes them...But can you hit the high notes in "Bulletproof..."?

The Verve

- O.k so the first Verve song i heard was "This is Music"...but i did get the Urban Hymns album the first day of release...

Shed Seven

ok - they're unfashionable now, but they still kick some ass. (i mean i like them..)

The Smiths

- definitely one of my favourite bands at the minute. The lyrics are so beautiful and yet depressing, and just speak of all those things in life that drag us down. Like other people for example...

Joy Division

- truely one of the most disturbing groups ever...

Bentley Rhythm Ace

large band - large website!

Prodigy

- i guess everyone knows all about them now...

Future Sound Of London

quality dark ambient stuff.

Fatboy Slim

- So he used to be in the housemartins...who cares! This is a brilliant album

Spiritulized

- one of the best albums of last year. Emotion and feedback never sounded so good.

Supernaturals

the songs sound chirpy, but the lyrics are tinged with such sadness. I love them deeply. In a non-sexual way of course...

The Kinks

- the first band i ever truely loved...

Suede

- Glam rock in the gutters staring at the stars. Seen them live, can almost play "we are the pigs" on guitar..

Stone Roses

- I am the resurrection. so i am.

Sex Pistols

- great... until they reformed in '96. Hmmm, fat rich forty year olds. The revolution starts here.

The Eels

- i am going to go and cry. Apparantly they've split up!

Kula Shaker

- Seen them live, Crispian ...hmmmm look;he's not a fascist, o.k.?!

The Propellerheads

new album out 26/1/98 (ages ago now!) should be good

Daft Punk

funky stuff!

Pulp

- what can we say that hasn't been said already...Actually, the new single "This is hardcore" is really sleazy and really good!

Rocket From The Crypt

- on a rope, on a rope, got me hangin' on a rope...

D.C Talk

- seen them live, must find the web site soon...

The Shirehorses

- seminal 80's madchester group. Inspired numerous imitators...

The Beautiful South

- pure quality

Marion

- who? you ask. Did that renault advert song

The Bluetones

- new single Solomon bites the worm out now - and it's cool

Space

- still unclassifiable...hope their new stuff is as good as the old songs...

Cornershop

- I can't explain why i like this...i just do

Alabama 3

- weird gospel/rock. Something i like to put on and chill to

The Beatles

- i guess everyone was into them at some point in their lives...

Multified Sides Tack

- surely the most seminal and greatest group of all time! A storming debut, great singles... such brilliant ideas! How do they do it?!?! Musical art-terrorism-bigbeat-techno-hawaiian-funk-speedgarage-lofi-house-punk-ambient-hardcore-urbancollective- loungecore-rockandroll-emotion-instrumental-suicide-dance-pain-rave at its best!

... i mean, i could go on....

Expect more soon...and more on each of the bands!
