XV 535 Virago |
|

|
After years of wanting to get on a bike I finally got up the courage to take my test in 1993 so in the space of a week I went from having never sat on a bike to having a full license, which was great, but I knew nothing about bikes - not a thing - ok I had been reading "Backstreet Heroes" and "Streetfighters" for years but I still only knew the basics so I needed a decent bike - one that wasn't going to conk out on me in a few days and leave me up to my elbows in unfamiliar engine oil. So my uncle found this great Xv 535 which is a bike I had always liked. Unfortunately it was in Cornwall and I was in Wales and it was 3500. |

So anyway I got the money together and had the bike delivered to me and it looked nice! But it certainly wasnt me!! Unfortunately I can't find a single photo of how the bike looked but take it from me it was totally standard and a horrible blue colour that made it look like a large piece of metal and the less said about the exhausts the better.
Above you'll find a picture of one of my mates' standard Vragos so you can get the idea.

The bike came off the road about 3 weeks after I bought it and the rebuild started. This is the latest version of her although she's had 3 rebuilds so far and is about ready for another one this year. |

So currently her specs are as follows
XV 535
standard engine with upgraded twin carbs
straight through exhausts (very loud)
one off fibre glass rear mudguard designed by me and complete with built in twin rear lights and mini indicators
uprated rear suspension from a 750
new higher risers and flat bars
the most comfy hand grips ever LOL!
cheap headlight fairing with more powerful headlights fitted (and I still can't see shit) |
