1968 Morris Minor
As the dinosaurs walked by and left their bronto droppings in the doorway of my cave I flicked through my latest copies of "Custom Car" and "Streetmachine" and drooled .......I have always disliked modern cars - I felt (and still do) that cars peaked in the 80's and it's been down hill ever since (of course there are some exceptions in design excellence like the new Beetle and the Audi TT) but back in 1991 I was a spotty youth (no really Iwas) with short hair and a total lack of wheels - I'd lost my pride and joy, a MK2 escort (that is somewhere else on this site) and had a few total dog cars to run around in.

At this time I was living in Lincolnshire and when my insurance finally paid out (a quarter of the value of my car!!) I needed to buy something new and at the time the aforementioned magazines were full of Morris Minor hotrods from people like the "Beardmore Brothers" (see links page) and well it just had to be done!
The moggy was in a sad state when I first got my hands on her.  It had been through several owners who tried to customise it and all they had managed was to make the poor old girl look like a scrapyard refugee.
Almost all of the brightwork such as hinges, handles and badges were missing.  The wings, bonnet and boot were fibreglass and had been so badly fitted that they had all cracked or in one wing's case disintegrated.
There was no back seat and the inside panel work had been made out of several different cars - one red one blue and one green.  Here you can also see the badly fitted fuel tank and the dangerous filler neck.
Inside it wasnt much better - the seat well had rusted out.  This picture just doesn't do the rot that I found justice - I could literally push my fingers through the floor and chassis.
The engine bay was a mess too - rusty and in the worst cases pipes weren't attached to the engine.  I DROVE THIS CAR HOME THROUGH LINCOLN!!!!!!!!! I must have been mental.
Yes there should be door panels there and im pretty sure you should have 2 seats too ohhh but look I got an oil gauge. woohhooo!
