THE
TEXAS CHAIN SAW
MASSACRE
1974 *** 84 mins.
This is a ruthless film that tries to scare the hell out of its viewer and succeeds admirably. There is no denying the historical value and audience impact of this classic thriller about five young people who "meat" Leatherface - the chainsaw-weilding madman who slices humans up right nice for consumption. The problem with this film is that the filmmaking techniques are not just sub-par, but they are terrible. Does it work? Yes. Could it have been done better, though? Absolutely. Still, though, this film will remain an important film in motion picture history.
Rated R for gory violence and language.
