If all you remember of this film is the title song, you really need to give this another viewing. This is a remarkable motion picure musical about the coming-of-age of talking motion pictures. Gene Kelly plays a silent film star who has to make that transition from silent films to talkies. Jean Hagen (in an Oscar-nominated performance) plays the squeaky voiced co-star who causes all the turmoil when Monumental Pictures tries to make a talkie. Donald O'Connor plays the goofy friend who's a lot smarter than he seems, and Debbie Reynolds plays the lady-love.
