1932 **** 62 mins.
At the time of its release, this film was regarded as a shocking film of the macabre, and banned in many areas due to its shocking nature--the fact that producer and director Tod Browning cast real circus freaks to play the characters in this film. Now, though, this is a fun film that is undeniably hilarious, while at the same right, it teaches a valuable lesson--that the "freaks" are, possibly, more human than the "normal" people who make fun of them.
