CITY
LIGHTS

1931 ***** 86 mins.

This is, truly, the best silent Charles Chaplin film. In this sweet romantic comedy, the Tramp (Chaplin) falls in love with a blind girl who sells flowers (Virginia Cherrill). The blind girl thinks he's a wealthy duke, when in reality, he's just . . . well . . . the Little Tramp. The Tramp's endeavours for the girl are hilarious and touching, and the ending of the film remains today as one of the most wonderful endings in cinematic history.
