About Kristy Kowal.......
@
Getting started swimming
She got started swimming at 5 years old, in the summer league club because all her friends were swimming and getting really cool gifts at at the end of the season and she wanted them too!
@
Friendships
Kristy lives with Courtney Shealy and they are also great friends outside the pool. "We are getting to go through all the highs and lows together and getting to share everything , has made it that much better for me here at Georgia." Courtney said.

They are best friends, fierce competitors, and both
intend to compete for gold in 2004. Olympic hopefuls, Courtney and Kristy

Favorite Father's Day Memories
I don't know how it happened, but you know when adults "steal" kids' noses and tell them that they have it? Well, when I was three and half years old I stole my dad's nose, but instead of stealing it, I bit it so hard it bled! Oops! I don't think an adult ever told me that they had my nose again.
@
Growth Spurt
She developed asthma as a child.
A 6-inch growth spurt during the summer before ninth grade caused extreme pain in  Kristy's knees.
She deals with bouts of tonsillitis before 1998 NCAA Championships.
@
Superstitious
Kristy is a bit superstitious. She picks out lucky earrings and toenail polish before each meet
