About This Design
I really enjoyed coming up with the concept for this design. Music is a very important part of my life and I thought long and hard about what kind of design would entice me into researching a school in depth. I felt like the color scheme a blue/gray and white were a very peaceful combination. I often turn to music when I need to relax so it was a good fit for the site to have soothing colors.
From there I designed the logo using elegant script combined with bold letters. Music flows like the script but can have an edge like the subsequent lettering. After designing the main page and moving on to the flash content I was having a lot of fun designing the movie, I searched online for a different kind of flash tutorial than what I had been exposed to in class and found this swiping effect. I felt that combined with a short classical bit of music was a fun addition to the site. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed designing it.
The image of the cello that has been added to the content area is designed to convey with the flow of the classical music and the elegant type. I do realize that there are other types of music that people study, but after beginning with this concept I felt to have the flow I needed to keep up with the same theme.
From this point I look forward to building my portfolio and entering the "real" world. It's a scary thought but one that I have been looking forward to for a few years now. To finally be able to contribute to my family doing something I love is an indescribable feeling.
