Here On Earth: Chapter 7
"What are you?" He asked, still not able to believe what was standing in front of him.
"Haven't you ever seen an angel before?" Her voice was silky smooth, the most pleasuring sound Nick had ever heard in his entire life. (Author's Note: Think of the angel Tess from the show Touched By An Angel. She's old and sweet!) "Well, baby, I'm an angel. You might say that I'm the head angel." She stepped toward him with her arms outstretched, but Nick moved back, afraid. "Oh, honey, you don't have to be scared of me!" She laughed, her laughter the sound of sweet bliss.
"You're so
so
" Nick searched for the right word. "So perfect! So beautiful! Charismatic."
"Angels usually are, honey." She smiled and again moved out to Nick. He stayed where he was and braced himself for her touch. When her hands made contact with his shoulders, he shuddered in pure happiness.
"You're, like, sending happiness through your fingertips or something!" She laughed again.
"Honey, Brian said you wanted to meet me. What's it about?" Nick was no longer cold, but warm with the love that surrounded Tina.
"Um, I wanted to talk to you about the deal that Brian and Eva made with you."
"Ah, yes," She put her arm around his shoulders and led him in a walk towards the woods. "I thought you might like to talk about that. It's going to be really hard to make your decision, isn't it baby?" Her tone was gentle, talking to him as if he were her child.
"Yeah." Was all he could say.
"Well, just follow what's in your heart and you can't go wrong."
"But I don't know what my heart wants," He looked around, not knowing where they were, but not worrying. "Tina, I love Eva. I truly love her. But I love Brian as a brother. He's the best friend I've ever had. I don't know if I could live without either of them."
"Well, you already are." Her words shocked him. She was right, he was living without both of them already.
"Can you help me decide?"
"No, baby, I can't do that. I'm sorry." She stopped and turned him towards her, her hands on his shoulders. "I know that you will make the right decision. And I want to let you know now that whatever you decide will be great. Both of them are going to heaven. All I have to say, is think not only of how their lives have not only affected you, but have affected other people as well. Don't forget that." She wrapped him in a hug. "If you have any more questions, just call me. I'll be there in an instant." She waved as she slowly disappeared before his eyes.
He turned around to start his walk home, then stared, shocked as he looked straight at the lodge in front of him. He was already back at the house without even moving more than six inches.
"Weird," He whispered, walking inside.
