Here On Earth: Chapter 6

"Hey, Sarah." Nick walked back into the living room, sitting down next to her on the couch.
"Hi." She stared straight at the TV in front of her.
"If you could tell Brian one last thing, what would it be?" His question made her jerk her head in his direction.
"I…I don't know. There's so much I wanna say." Her gaze was distant. "Probably that I love him, that I'll always love him." She looked at Nick. "Why?"
"Just wondering." He looked back at the TV, nearly jumping out of his skin when Brian's face was less than five inches from his. "What the hell..!" He stopped himself, remembering that Sarah couldn't see him.
"Nick, are you all right?"
"Uh, sure.." He racked his brain to come up with a quick good excuse. "I just thought you were watching porn, but you're not, of course. Just a slip-up on the eyes, you know." He quickly got up from the couch, avoiding Brian, and stepped out of the house and into the cold air.
"What the hell were you doing there?" Nick asked Brian when he saw him appear outside.
"I wanted to see Sarah." He shrugged sheepishly.
"Why were you up in my face?"
"I wanted to scare you," Brian laughed. "I guess I did."
"Uh, yeah!" Nick ran a hand through his hair. "What's today?"
"The 22nd."
"Shit, I only have two days." Nick murmured.
"Well, one and a half if you really wanna get technical." Brian looked at his watch. "Well less actually.."
"I get the point." Nick hugged himself. "It's so cold out here."
"Not if you're dead." Nick punched Brian. "I didn't feel that."
"Are you serious?" Nick asked, his tone expressing his awe.
"Nope! I felt it!" Brian rubbed his shoulder. "Well, better get cracking! You don't have much time to decide!"
"I wanna meet Tina."
"Right now?"
"Yeah. I wanna meet her." Nick stared into Brian's eyes for a minute until Brian finally looked away.
"Okay…" Brian said reluctantly, then disappeared.
Nick looked around. He waited, still clutching his arms trying to keep himself warm. It was another five minutes until Nick finally saw it.
"Holy crap," he muttered, shielding his eyes. He couldn't believe what was in front of him.
