Here On Earth: Chapter 5

"Nick?" Sarah's muffled voice came from behind the door, startling all three of them.
"Sarah!" Brian jumped up from where he was sitting, then stopped midway to the door. "She can't see me," he said, his face crumpling in sadness as he turned and sat back down in the chair.
"Uh, yeah?" Nick answered.
"Are you alright? I heard you yelling and talking in there and I was wondering if you were okay."
"Yeah! Just thinking aloud, that's it," Nick called back. "Thanks though!"
"Okay." Nick heard her footsteps echo down the hall until it was silent again.
"Why can't she see you?" He asked, turning back to Brian.
"Because we made that deal with Tina. We said that we would chose one person and the same person. We chose you because we were both really close to you." Brian couldn't help the tears that came from his eyes. "I just wish that I could see her. I love her so much."
There was a short silence while Brian regained composure.
"One question," Nick said, holding up a finger. "Will I always know when you guys are watching me?"
"No," Eva answered with a smile on her face, knowing exactly what Nick was getting at. "We can make ourselves invisible to you if we choose."
"You better not! I don't want you guys to be watching me piss or something!"
"I promise that I'll respect your privacy," Brian said, holding up both hands in a truce. "I just don't know if I can say the same for Eva." He smiled at Eva's attempt to look innocent.
"Okay, you guys." Nick got back to business. "If I have to choose, then I want to choose on my own; I don't want you guys to try to persuade me one way or the other, alright?" They both nodded. "Okay, I just have one question. Well, two actually. Can I see Tina? Like, can I meet her?"
"Yeah," Brian said, leaning his head back into his arms which were crossed behind him. "Just tell us when and you can meet her anytime. After that, you can just call to her and talk to her."
"Okay, next question. Are there other dead people hanging around here?" Nick watched as Brian and Eva exchanged looks.
"No," they said in unison, Nick knowing immediately that they were lying.
"That is so creepy." Nick looked all around the room, chills shooting all over his body. "Hey, guys…" Nick looked back to the chair. It was empty.
