Here On Earth: Chapter 3

"You can't be here, cause you're dead!" Nick's skin started to crawl at the sight of his friend.
"They gave us the chance to see you again!" Brian stepped closer still to Nick, moving slowly so as not to scare him.
"Us?"
"Yeah- me and Eva."
"Eva's with you?!" Nick jumped up and rushed out to Brian, grabbing him by the shoulders, his fingers tingling at the touch. "Where is she? I have to see her, Brok! I have to!"
"You can only see her when they're done fixing her up."
"What do you mean?" Nick released Brian's shoulders and sat down on the bed, Brian following him.
"Well, before I could come down here, they had to fix me up so I wouldn't look like I did when I died. They had to make me look normal again."
"Okay, who the hell is 'they'?" Nick turned and looked at Brian, noting that he looked really good considering the fact that he was dead.
"The angels. They always give you the chance to see your person of choice one last time. Some people never get seen because their loved ones just don't look hard enough." Brian got up and started pacing in front of Nick. "See, we- me and Eva- kinda made a deal with the angels. Well, specifically with Tina."
"What deal? And who's Tina?" Nick was far past confused at this point.
"Tina's one of the head angels. She agreed to make a deal with us. The deal is this," Brian stopped pacing and stopped in front of his friend. "She said if we both decided to see the same person one last time, she would give us more time here on earth. And the chance to live again." He spoke the last part quietly.
"The chance to…are you serious?! That's great!" Nick jumped up and embraced Brian, but let go quickly at the feel of little shocks going through his body. "What's up with you? I can barely touch you without feeling all weird inside."
"I'm dead, remember?" Brian continued. "That's not so great once you hear the last part of the deal. She said that only one of us can return to live again here on earth."
"How do you decide which one of you gets to do that?"
"We don't." Brian looked directly into Nick's eyes. "You do."
