DEATH (PART I)
Story by Daisy

You begin to die the day you were born…some just die sooner than others.

Chapter Five

Hmm, that’s interesting, Ebony thought later that night. She was reading through the old papers in the library, looking up all the old murders, trying to get ideas for the five that she would commit. I want mine to be interesting. Different than anything else that’s ever been done. Memorable. She shut off the machine that she had been staring into for the past three hours and stood up.

“I’m sure I can come up with something phenomenal.” She said, walking out of the library. She giggled with anxiety. I’ve waited too long already! At that moment, Ebony watched as Kevin drove by in his car, looking distracted. She followed the car with her eyes until it no longer became visible in the dark.

Congratulations, Kevin! A smile spread across her entire face. You die tomorrow!

“Sarah, what will it take to convince you not to tell the press?” Kevin asked, exasperated.

“Twenty thousand dollars.” She said plainly.

Kevin sighed. The whole conversation had been going on like this for the past two hours. They had gotten nowhere. He might as well pay the money.

“Is there any way you’d be willing to negotiate the price?” He asked hopefully. “Sarah, remember how much we loved each other? Why would you want to do this?” He knew that this was getting to her. Maybe she would lower the price a little.

“Fine. Ten thousand. That’s my final offer.”

“Sold.” Kevin breathed a sigh of relief. “Just to make sure that you don’t take this to the press even after I pay you, my lawyer has issued a contract for you to sign at the date of your payment.” Kevin pulled out a single sheet of paper from the notebook that he was carrying.

“It’s kinda short.” Sarah took the paper and read it quickly. “Fine. I’ll sign the contract when you pay me. But not until then.”

Kevin took back the contract and got up from the table in the diner that they had been sitting at.

“Have a nice day, Miss Little.” Kevin walked briskly out the door, planning to walk out of her life later that afternoon when he handed her the check.
