NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON VISTAS IN ALGAL RESEARCH
22nd & 23rd September 2007
Krishnamurthy Institute of Algology will be celebrating its Seventeenth
Founding Day on 22nd and 23rd September, 2007. In this connection, a national
level symposium will be held in collaboration with the PG Department of
Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology, SDNB Vaishnav College for Women (Autonomous),
Chromepet, Chennai - 600 044. Subject of Symposium: Vistas in Algal
Research

Last date for receipt of applications
in the prescribed form is 15th July, 2007. Application
should be accompanied by a DD / Cheque to cover registration fees and if
accommodation is required, the relevant charges for two days.
DD Should be made out on a bank located in Chennai.
Outstation cheques should include Rs. 601- towards clearing charges. All
DD and Cheques should be made payable to Krishnamurthy Institute of Algology.
Student participants should also provide a certificate of their student
status from their research guides, counter-signed by the Head of the Institution
where_they are studying.
Papers are invited from participants on any of the following aspects of
algology -
Morphology (gross and infrastructural) New approaches
to taxonomy Physiology and Biochemistry
Ecology
Molecular Biology
Biotechnology
Economic utilization of algae in food, feed, drugs, energy and rare chemicals
Role in agriculture and land reclamation Bioremediation of domestic and
industrial effluents
The last date for receipt of abstracts is 15th July, 2007. Selected papers
can be presented orally and others presented in the form of posters. A poster
session will be specified when participants will have a chance to see the
posters. Presenting participants should be present to explain the presentation
during the poster session.
A cash prize will be awarded to the best paper presented by a student and
another for the best poster, also by a student.
Chennai is well connected from all parts of the country by air, rail and
road. If you are traveling by rail, there are two rail terminals where you
can arrive: Chennai Central and Chennai Egmore. Be sure to specify the terminal
where you are arriving in your application for registration. Those who arrive
by road will have to make their own•way to the venue.
The venue is at Chromepet, which is on the suburban railway line from Chennai
Beach to Tambaram. This line can be easily reached from the two railway
terminals. Those who arrive at Chennai Central can take the line at Park
Station, which is across the road from Central. Chennai Egmore is itself
connected by the suburban line. From both stations you should take the trains
proceeding towards Tambaram and alight at Chromepet.
