| Marik was one of the guardians of the pharoh's tomb and the holder of the Millenium Rod. His family had guarded it for generations. One day he decided that he shouldn't have to guard the tomb, but instead rule the world. He stole two of the Egyptian God cards(Slifer the Sky Dragon and the Winged Dragon of Ra) from his sister, Ishizu. He then left Egypt and started a underground group called the rare hunters. He had a plan that if he could collect all three Egyptian God cards and combine it with the powers of the pharoh, he would become pharoh. While he and some of his followers were on their ship, they rescued Bandit Keith. Marik took control of Bandit Keith and used him to steal Yugi's Millenium Puzzle and then duel him. Marik lost control of Keith because of Bakura and his plan failed. He sent swarms of rare hunters to Battle City to beat Yugi. Rare Hunter dueled Yugi first and failed. Marik sent his mind to the shadow realm. The same thing then happened to Arkana. Marik then gave Slifer the Sky Dragon to Strings and dueled through Strings. Strings lost and Marik lost Slifer. Marik then met Yami Bakura and made an agreement with him. Marik then kidnapped Joey, Tea, and Mokuba and forced Yugi and Kaiba to duel Umbra and Lumis. Umbra and Lumis lost. Marik then took over Joey and Tea's mind and forced Yugi to duel Joey. Marik's plan failed again. Marik entered the Battle City Finals with Odion. Marik disguised himself as a boy named Namu, while Odion pretended to be Marik. After Odion lost, Marik revealed his true identity and his Yami form took control of his body. Marik then dueled Mai and beat her, sending her to the shadow realm. When Ishizu was about to duel Kaiba, the real Marik took control of his body and cried for help. Marik later took control of Tea's body, since he was already inside it and gave Bakura his ring. He made a deal that if Yami Bakura beat Yami Marik, he would give Yami Bakura his Millenium Rod. After Yami Bakura lost, Yami Marik left Marik inside Tea's body and banished Bakura to the shadow realm. Yami Marik was amused after Noa took over the blimp. In the Battle Royale, he lost first, along with Joey. In their duel, Joey was about to win. Luckily for Yami Marik, Joey had been weakened by the shadow game. Joey fainted, allowing Yami Marik to win. Yami Marik then duelled Yugi, but his Winged Dragon fo Ra was destroyed. After his God card was destroyed, Marik was able to take control of his own body. Marik forfeited, destroying Yami Marik completely. Marik then gave the Millenium Ring and the Millenium Rod to Yugi. He, Ishizu, and Odion then went back to Egypt. |
