VI. Subnetting Hell
The bane of the “NetAcad” tribe’s existence- all except for a brave few- live in mortal fear of being Sent down to Subnetting Hell. Very rarely do any Sent ever return. The “Digital” tribe is skeptical about the existence of Subnetting Hell, but it has already been proven in the case of the Coconut tree that the “Digital” tribe is, in fact, wrong.
In Subnetting Hell, the only question is ‘to subnet, or not to subnet,’ and the only answer is ‘yes.’ In Subnetting Hell, is everyone for himself (no females have been sent to Subnetting Hell, except for one accident—see VII. Population, females), as the bit borrowing causes massive conflicts when bits that shouldn’t be borrowed are, or when someone borrows someone else’s bits (bits are a scarce resource).
The most common number of bits borrowed is one, because bits are so scarce, which is why nobody can escape Subnetting Hell and proves the caliber of the students captured by Hell. The second most common number of bits borrowed is two; this way the network is cut in half with one subnet each for the first floor and one for the second floor, or east wing and west wing, or the dreaded stupid kids and the smart kids.
