About Project Mentor

Applications for mentor/tutors are processed throughout the year.  There are always more students who could be helped by mentor/tutors than there are volunteers.

In 1999-2000, 264 community volunteers, Kalamazoo College and WMU students served as mentor/tutors helping (260) KPS students.

Project Mentor is a school-based mentoring program, which aims to match a caring adult with K - 12 KPS students.

Through a partnership with WMU's special education department, Project Mentor matched 60 WMU students with KPS students with special needs.
