Partnering with you to raise
Student Achievement
Welcome to Kalamazoo Public Education Foundation
established in 1988 to support Kalamazoo Public Schools.

Our Mission
The Kalamazoo Public Education Foundation develops and supports programs and
initiatives that promote excellence in education and high achievement for all Kalamazoo
Public School students.

Our Values
All
children desire to learn and can achieve at higher levels.
Public education is
fundamental to a democratic, civil and prosperous society.
Public schools are
critical institutions for breaking the cycle of poverty and redressing social inequities.
Public engagement,
community support and adequate resources are essential to the success of public education.
Parents and caregivers
must be involved in attempts to improve their schools.
The Kalamazoo Public
Education Foundation plays a central role in building and sustaining broad support for
quality education in the Kalamazoo Public Schools.

Our Goals
Create
public understanding of the strengths and challenges of the Kalamazoo Public School
District and its need for public engagements, community support and adequate resources.
Establish and maintain a plan for fund generation to ensure KPEF's long-term viability and
to provide support for school improvement initiatives.
Maintain
a well-governed and well-managed organization that functions in a manner appropriate to
its mission.
Provide educational opportunities and foster initiatives to improve student
achievements.
Forge strategic alliances with various segments of the community to assist and support
Kalamazoo Public Schools' efforts to provide high quality public education for all
students.

The KPEF's Web Site was created to introduce you
to the programs and services administered by the Foundation. All of our programs
are designed to support the Kalamazoo Public School district's efforts to raise
student achievement levels for all students.
Last year, every school in the district including KPS
administration benefited from KPEF programs and services. 260 mentor/tutors were
placed in the schools, 33 Mini-Grants and eight School Community grants delivering
innovative, creative approaches to learning were awarded to teachers and administrators.
Through these grants, hundreds of students were impacted in a variety of positive
ways! These achievements impact educators too. They are very excited,
energized and their creativity is stimulated prompting them to develop new ideas for
future grants.
