Hitomi Kanzaki
She's in love (or more like she has a crush on) this guy at her school, called Amano (the guy, not the school!). When she learns that he'll be leaving her school soon, she gets the guts to ask him to give her her first kiss, if she can complete a 100m dash in 15 seconds[or is it 15 seconds?someone correct me if i'm wrong] (wow....I wouldn't be able to do that, I'm no track star!!!I do field events!But then again, she's on the track team, I'm not....ok, I'll go back to talking about Hitomi now...). When she's nearing the finish line, Van(oh yea baby! ^_^) decides to pop up then and there, and she (literally) runs into him...and the rest, you should know if you've watched the series.

Amano-->ok, definitely crush on Amano. Biiiig crush to say the least, methinks. Earthperson. Returns her feelings (?I'm not really sure about this, coz he could just be trying to be nice, or he might actually really have feelings for her, so its still a question mark for me).

Allen-->a knight of Astoria.Gaea person. Kinda Amano look-a-like-->I think that this is the reason to why she falls for Allen. She may have stated in the anime that she was in love with Allen, but I think that she only likes Allen because of his resemblance to Amano, back on Earth. She's just been through watching one of her visions come true (i.e. Balgus dying; Fanelia being destroyed), and she's just seen someone who looks totally familiar to her eyes, and it happens to be her crush's look-a-like. Since Amano's kinda well...not there with her, and Allen is, she automatically 'falls' for him. So, you can kinda say that its kinda homesickness induced kinda 'love'. Well, this love is pretty much one-sided, if you ask me, until like mid-episode 19 (zis rite? I keep forgeting which episode is which...)where Dirnkork decides to seperate Van and Hitomi (not like they're actually together...yet), coz he isn't able to see the future and make it into what he wants, when Hitomi and Escaflowne are together, and so 'Operation Unmei Kaihen' (that's what I call it anyway; it translates to [Operation] Change of Destiny) is put into motion. Folken and Naria act as Allen and Hitomi, thus kinda 'changing' Hitomi's supposed fate with Van.
Anyway, Allen 'realizes' that Hitomi is the one that he has 'loved' all this time(the exact words are "You are the only one"), and kisses her (ack!!noooo!!!-->hey, you if you don't want Van, I do!!!!^_^). Some people may think that this shows that Allen actually does have feelings for Hitomi, (I've seen the evidence for this at many sites) but I say that he does not. For one thing, the only reason for Allen to kiss Hitomi was because he was being controlled by Folken acting as Allen and that definitely does not count to it being that Allen has feelings for Hitomi. For more Allen stuff, you'll have to look at the 'Allen' section of my ramblings. I've yakked too much about Allen here.

Van-->Now, this part I enjoy talking about.(^_^)You've probably figured out by now that my fave character is Van. Hitomi may not realize it at first that she cares and loves Van, coz she's spending too much time thinking about Amano and Allen(and her non-existent love for Allen). Her feelings for Van slowly develop throughout the series (although she doesn't realize it...yet again-_-;sheesh, in a way, she's as dense as Van). The signs are definitely there, but are pretty subtle, so you kinda have to watch the anime pretty closely to find those points. You want evidence? I've got evidence for ya (mostly from Episode 19 tho..haven't finished watching the whole thing yet-->6 more episodes to go, I'll definitely be able to finish them tonight....and then be longing for the movie!!!).
-->she cares enough for him to put herself in danger, so that he won't die (remember that Van's been deeply connected to Escaflowne for quite some time already? And that he can feel everything that happens to Escaflowne? The part where Dornkirk's pple are trying to pull out Escaflowne's Energist? Well, if they were doing that to Escaflowne, well then....they were pulling Van's heart out too...)
-->she's really overjoyed to see that Van's safe and well, and she seems to be able to read Van's mind too you know?Coz when Van tells her and Allen to go to the rooftop of Dirnkork's lil' um....place, she seems to understand what Van wants her to do (ok, I might be jumping to conclusions there, but it sure seems like it). She's also smiling really widely when Van comes to take her and Allen back to Allen's ship, and reaches out to Van eagerly, so that he can pull her up onto Escaflowne....needless to say that Allen got there first.
-->Her reaction when Van tells her that he wants her to be by his side forever(more like always, actually, but it'd kinda sounds weird if I said 'be by his side for always', so I kinda changed it.).....coz he needs her powers (ano baka!!!geez.....just say that you love her already!!!guys...sheesh!). She blushes really red, when he says that he wants her by his side, and then gets really mad when he adds that its coz he needs her power in order to avenge his kingdom. I think that she actually did want him to ask her to stay in Gaea with him, or else why would her reaction be so...um....wild? And she calls herself 'baka' after she runs off (but not before slapping him!)and throws a stone into the river.
Well, that's all that I've got for my Hitomi section now, I'll add more when I finish the anime, and when I have time.
