| Van Fanel The young boy-king to the kingdom of Fanelia, his father died when he was just a child, his brother disappeared while on a dragon hunt in order to get the Energist to power Escaflowne; his mother disappeared as well, while looking for Van's brother.(Although his brother does reappear later in the series...to be the Zaibach Empire's army commander kinda thing).
