| The story behind TOL is a simple one. In the Spring of 2002 Thinking Out Loud was formed because of the lack of time to produce an actual play and because it was something that several of the original members have wanted to try for a long time. The first show took place in May of 2000 to raise money for Nick Backus and the local MS Society. The cast had such a good time doing that first show and the audience really seemed to like it, so it was decided that TOL would perform on a semi-regular basis. Four shows were performed that first year, then in 2001, for a reason that is still unknown to even the cast members, TOL only performed twice. The second of those two shows however happened to be the most successful TOL show to date. It happened in November of 2001 and it raised $1500 for the Red Cross to use locally. Local celebrities from TV and Radio participated in the show and the band Rythym Method even provided some entertainment. (If you get a chance to see these guys around the area GO, they're great!) Do to the success of this show the cast decided that in 2002 TOL would be a lot better about doing shows. So starting in February the cast performed a show every month at the Apollo Theatre with the money raised going to a different charity each month. This continued until July when, do to various reasons, TOL performed their last show of the year at the Apollo Theatre. Luckily, a few months earlier, TOL began talking to Brewsters on Water Street about performing there. So in May of 2002 TOL took their act to Brewsters and as of July 11th have made Brewsters on Water Street the home of TOL! |
