| Web space: The first thing you need in order to post your site is Web space. When you signed up with your ISP, you should've gotten some space for your web pages. But if that is not enough for you or doesn't satisfy your specific needs, you can choose another Web host. You can choose a free Web space provider (like Geocities) or, if free web space providers can't fulfil your requirements, you have to get a commercial web host. If you want to register your domain on the Internet (like .com, .org, .net, .biz, .tv, .info and so on) you should apply at Register.com, which is one of the best in this area. Site promotion: After you've set up your web site you now need visitors. The best promotion is good content, of course. But besides that, you need to submit your site to the major search engines, since most of the people find sites using search engines. People tend to see first the title of a web page in the search results, so choose an appropriate title for you page. Pick carefully the words for the META tags. Poorly written meta tags can be just as bad as the total absence of meta tags. Also bear in mind that the words you have in your meta tags should appear on that page, since some search engines penalize web pages that contain keywords that cannot be found on the page itself. Try to get as many links pointing at your pages as possible. |

If you look at most websites, you will probably notice that there are banner advertisements displayed on most pages. Anyone with a website can get advertisers. While it is true that if your site is well-known, you may get companies contacting you to offer to advertise on your site, you can get advertising revenue even if you are just starting out and your site is relatively unknown. The way to do this is to join as an "affiliate" of various sites, either directly, or through an affiliate network. There are different payment schemes available: 1.Pay Per Impression, 2.Pay Per Click and 3.Pay Per Sale or Lead. Advertising revenue is one of the most effortless ways to earn money from your site. You just have to put the banners there and wait for the money to roll in (of course, you will need to have some visitors first). If you already have a website, let it earn even while you sleep (literally). Just join an affiliate program (for example, LinkShare is one of the best affiliate programs) and start making money. |
