Bryan "Big Bryan" Sewell
(Editor's note: The "Big Bryan" nickname came about because KORG has two
guys named Bryan/Brian, and we needed a way to know who we were talking
about. Since Bryan is older and taller than Brian, he got to have the "Big"
moniker).
The self-proclaimed "lunatic fringe" of KORG (due to being the only original
member to not participate in the creation of the AD&D team tournaments). I
was an "in absentia" founding member, part of the original group but not very
active at the time. I was also the only member living in Oak Ridge at the time
(the "OR" in KORG), but moved to Nashville shortly thereafter. I am also the
sarcastic smart-@$$ of KORG, and neither KORG member or victim (player) is
spared. I am the primary Champions GM of KORG, although I have also GMed Torg
(an unintentional slaughterfest) and AD&Ds Return to the Tomb of Horrors (an
intentional slaughterfest). I am also one of the few remaining single members
of KORG, so all you single hot females living in the greater Metro Nashville
area feel free to email me at the link below. ;-)
The first member of what-would-become-KORG to GM at Gen Con, here is a brief
listing of my non-KORG events. My GMing style is deliberately humorous, by
the way:
- The Intercrime Invitational: A two round BYOC
Villains & Vigilantes disaster.
I (thankfully) don't remember much about it, other than V&V is good for fights
but bad for everything else. I think several villain teams were competing
against each other for the rights to plunder the city, and the heroes had to
stop them. Seriously lame, but it opened the way for...
- The Demon Nights Series (1-4): A serial Champions/Torg
combination starring
the Golden City Gladiators: Americommando (a super-patriotic pro
wrestler-turned-government agent, who is a straight up trip when played
correctly), Black Scorpion (a martial artist with an always-on ki field
that can be used as a force field, focused into a hand attack, or focused
further into black scorpion tattoos on her palm for a killing blow), Charge
(the electrical speedster teenage media slut), Demonstar (son of the
Gladiators' greatest enemy and the fiery center-piece of the Demon Nights),
the Ebony Wizard (sorcerror pretty-good of the Gladiators, able to summon the
forms of the Ebony Wraith and the Ebony Warrior), Frostbite (an
energy-projecting recovering vampire), Gunslinger (a gyrojet cowgirl, and
another government agent) and Hammer (imagine Thor is killed by a street
punk who becomes the new Thor, is stripped of his storm god powers but not
his body). The stories center around Dr. Demon (Demonstar's father), who
jumps from dimension to dimension, having children (Demonstar has a big
family, and it gets bigger every year) and taking over the earth. Special
note: You may notice that the Gladiators' names begin with the letters A-H.
This was a vain attempt by me to keep order at the table. By assigning
characters to seats, I thought I could keep track of who was playing who
better. It didn't work, as people moved constantly.
- The Breakfast of Champions: This started out as a Gen Con
time-killer for the
KORG members. We all found ourselves with free time and wanting to play
something. I brought the players' Champions characters and threw this together
semi-spontaneously. It was such a hit, I turned it into a Gen Con one-shot.
The PCs are owned and played by KORG members, so I won't go into them. The
bad guys are the Cereal Killers (Cap'n Crunch, Lucky, 2-Can SAM, Tony the
Tiger, Ka-Boom the Clown, and Trixie). Just for kicks, I also threw in the
Lunch of Champions with the Kinfolk o' Doom (super hillbillies who had a
problem with the "no shirt, no shoes, no service" policy of a local
restaurant).
- The Center City Slugfest: A one-shot, no-holds-barred fight
between 8
villains (Manslaughter, the Amazon Destroyer, Raven, Big Daddy Gator,
Hit-n-run, Strongarm, Roadkill, and the Ruin) and one hero (Captain Justice)
for Center City. All were played as PCs, with the last one standing taking
the prize. Alliances were formed and broken regularly, and fun was had by
all. Big Daddy Gator took it in a time limit draw with Raven and the Ruin.
Send mail to Bryan.
