ivory

i admit it's probably "environmentally incorrect" & evil for me to have real & actual ivory. just think of the poor elephant that died & tsk-tsk & everything. but i have a good excuse! i found a whole necklace of these old-time beads. it was a steal! anyway it's truly amazing what you find browsing the salvation army for jewelry parts. & for 2 dollars too. tsk, tsk, what some ppl throw away. well, stupidly i actually used most of them making jewelry, so what you see is what i have left.
ivory beads
well, visions of elephants & rhinos: i have had these a few times, but the interesting part is i've often seen the animals, then a drawn picture of the animal in a children's book. these appear to be books i've never seen before, & once i briefly glimpsed a child looking at the pictures in a book. bears also tend to appear this way, tho the bear once went from "real" bear to book pictures to an entire child's bedroom designed in winnie the pooh furniture, complete w/ lamps & mobiles. i have never seen a room thusly theme-designed. anyway i suppose these visions mean something about passing on knowledge of exotic or endangered animals to kids who would never see them, unless they happen to live near a decent zoo. the real animal becomes symbolic or archetypal, when we usually suppose it's the other way around. kind of like there's mythical archetypal humans (adam & eve for example) & living humans are supposed to be "patterned" after them. here however the living creature seems to be reduced to a representation. still, the representation is better than nothing--many children would probably not know these animals even exist were it not for picture books & TV.

health: using ivory is supposed to benefit arthritis, but as i'm using several stones which are supposed to treat this i haven't determined the ivory individually yet. (yes, i have had some improvement since using various stones on a regular basis..)

animals: ivory's also supposed to increase your empathy with animals if you can get over the bad karma of acquiring it. well, i'll freely admit i communicate with many alien beings such as cats, squirrels, & birds, so this can only be a plus. you would think. i did have several interesting synchronicities w/ squirrels recently, tho i might also attribute this to my "squirrel nut bead" (jasper).

***other stones mentioned for animal empathy are:  boji stones, enstatite, jasper, clear quartz, turritella agate, & sodalite.
animal communications: the dreaded gopher, insects/ants, owl, coyote/dogs, cats, birds.
