New Talent Of The Week

This week on the "New talent" section , we have a band that call's itself "beats ". This underground band started its journey at the age of 15. The band has got two members namely, Wilbert Sameul & Kesser Play anything from 'Led Zeppelin', 'the beetles', AS, to 'Bryan Adams', This due has been there in all competitions of the underground band and twice have won. Speaking to the side vocalist and piano/keyboard player, Kesser....

So music is what you want to do now?

Well I never intended to become a musician by profession, I have my degree's and my father wanted me to get a respected Job, but I ended up in music, but I love it..

What made you come into music?

I've always been inspired by artist's like 'the eagles', and Rod Steward and AS which remains my main influence till now, and getting on stage was one of my dream, which has come true. I guess it was all luck that I got into playing underground. I mean never in a zillion years I could've imagined myself winning twice3 in a row for the underground competitions.

And what about the music scene in Pakistan?

Its impressive the way the music industry has suddenly evolved during the recent times. I remember a couple of years ago when everyone was making typical stereo type albums. The concept of experimenting was never there. Ali Haider I think has a lot to contribute, his latest album is a whiz.

I've noticed even at your shows you sing old English songs? Is your Udru that bad?

humph, They told you that !( smiles all around). I don't know, maybe its "not" our style or we aren't up to it. We sing Urdu the crowd boo's (smiles).

So any plans coming removing the underground label?

We have recently finished recording our first album, haven't figured the name as yet It'll should release some time in September this year. the one tract that stands out for the album is 'TUNE1' which I feel is different from the rest.
