TOTTENHAM : EUROPE, HERE WE COME!!!

29/01/03                                                                                                                                      Previous Page          Next Page

After two wins in a row against Everton and Aston Villa, Spurs is firmly back on the Euro-track.  Thus, the a win in the upcoming clash against third place Magpies is absolutely vital to keep Spurs' European dream alive.

After three defeats at the back end of the festive period, the team showed great togetherness in securing six points from the home game with Everton and the trip to Aston Villa. Personally, I can sense that winning two on the bounce does wonders for the feel-good factor around the club.  With the exception of Jamie Redknapp & Ziege, the later still recovering from operation on his "dead" leg, most of the senior players are physically fit and team sprite is on an all time high.

M.Owen??...who cares if he again failed to live up to expectation again. The man of the moment should truly belongs to Keane, the hat-trick hero in the match against Everton, he was simply superb!! His first hat-trick in a Spurs shirt has given the club a much needed boost and a new lease of life.  In addition, the dynamic duo of Dean Richards and Ledley King were at their very best in last Saturday win over Aston Villa.  The pair were outstanding in a 4-4-2 system and I believes this defensive partnership can only go from strength to strength.  Joined by Stephen Carr and Goran at the back, for once our defence looks solid as a rock.  (Ass Tony Adams era is over, long live the new king, Ledley King while S
Campbell is just the great pretender!!!)

I believed we our defenders we be sufficient to stop the most deadly strike force in the EPL, which surly must belong to Alan Shearer & C Bellamy.  I have great respect for Shearer and just hope that he would not put on his scoring boots come next Wednesday.  Jenas should also be tightly marked, as he is also capable of creating goals opportunities from midfield. However I have notice that Newcastle are not the strongest defensively, so if we can get at them we should do alright.

As both teams are evenly match, a draw would be a fair result for both teams. My prediction : Spurs 1 - NewCastle 1
