No.2003/2/16 Mumbai, 19th February, 2003 - WR TO RUN 388 HOLIDAY SPECIAL TRAINS DURING ENSUING SUMMER TO VARIOUS DESTINATIONS IN GUJARAT, RAJASTHAN, UTTAR PRADESH, KARNATAKA & KERALA

To facilitate extra rush during Summer Holidays, WR has planned to run more than 388 Holiday Specials to various destinations like Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Gandhidham, Varanasi (via Allahabad), Ernakulam, Mangalore, Karwar & Allahabad between 7th April, 2003 and 2nd July, 2003.

5. Bi-weekly Special between Mumbai Central and Karwar
Train No.903 Holiday Special from Mumbai Central to Karwar will depart Mumbai Central at 23.45 hrs every Saturday and Wednesday and reach Karwar at 13.00 hrs the next day from 9th April, 2003 to 28th June, 2003.
Train No.904 Holiday Special from Karwar to Mumbai Central will depart Karwar at 13.30 hrs every Sunday and Thursday and reach Mumbai Central at 5.00 hrs the next day from 10th April, 2003 to 29th June, 2003.
The train will have seven sleeper class coaches, one III tier AC coach and six second class general coaches.
Enroute the train will halt at Borivali, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Vaibhavwadi, Kankavali, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Thivim, Karmali and Madgaon stations in both directions. 

9. Weekly Special between Ahmedabad and Ernakulam
Train No.945 Holiday Special from Ahmedabad to Ernakulam will depart Ahmedabad at 6.50 hrs every Monday and reach Ernakulam at 19.00 hrs the next day from 7th April, 2003 to 30th June, 2003.
Train No.946 Holiday Special from Ernakulam to Ahmedabad will depart Ernakulam at 8.00 hrs every Wednesday and reach Ahmedabad at 18.45 hrs the next day from 9th April, 2003 to 2nd July, 2003.
The train will have seven sleeper class coaches, two III tier AC coaches and six II class general compartments.
Enroute the train will halt at Vadodara, Surat, Valsad, Vapi, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Thivim, Madgaon, Karwar, Bhatkal, Udupi, Kankanadi, Kasargod, Cannannore, Calicut, Shornur, Trichur and Alwaye stations in both directions. 

10. Weekly Special between Ahmedabad and Mangalore
Train No.913 Holiday Special from Ahmedabad to Mangalore will depart Ahmedabad at 6.50 hrs every Friday and reach Mangalore at 9.30 hrs the next day from 11th April, 2003 to 27th June, 2003.
Train No.914 Holiday Special from Mangalore to Ahmedabad will depart Mangalore at 18.00 hrs every Saturday and reach Ahmedabad at 18.45 hrs the next day, from 12th April, 2003 to 28th June, 2003.
The train will have seven sleeper coaches, two III tier AC coaches and six II class general coaches.

 OHerald Archives 01 June 2002 : Margao - Kozhikode Janashatabdi Express on Konkan Railway Recommended

PANJIM, MAY 31 One more Janashatabdi Express on Konkan Railway route, has been recommended between Margao and Kozikode. The new train is likely to link the Mumbai-Margao Janashatabdi Express, introduced recently and is likley to reduce Mumbai-Kerala travel to merely 15 hours.

The recommendation was made in the meeting of Konkan Railway Users Coordination Committee, concluded recently at Mumbai.

The committee has also requested the Ministry of Railways to provide halts to different trains travelling on Konkan Railway route, for the convenience of the travelling public. The list of such halts includes Mangala Express at Sawantwadi, Kumta and Kundapur; Jaipur-Ernakulam Express at Sindhudurga and Karwar; Netrawati Express at Sawantwadi; Konkan Kanya Express at Pernem and Matsyagandha Express at Ankola and Barkur.

B Rajaram, chairman and managing director, KRC informed that the KRC was willing to offer town booking agencies to any villagers along the route to have a computer terminal installed at his/her place and issue tickets for Konkan Railways trains together with providing commercial information to the passengers. This would solve peoples’ problems in travelling far off from their homes and to reach the railway station to buy the tickets.

All the long distance Kerala bound Express trains going via Konkan Railway route, which were diverted following the derailment of 6602 Mangalore-Chennai Mail on 22nd June, 2001 on the Southern Railway section, will continue to run on diverted route till 20th September, 2001 being the probable date of restoration of traffic on the Shoranur – Calicut section as advised by Southern Railway.

The last services on the diverted route for 6334 Trivandrum-Hapa Exp is 17th Sept; for 6333 Hapa-Trivandrum 13th Sept; 6337 Rajkot-Ernakulam 17th Sept and for 6338 14th Sept; for 2431/2432 Rajdhani Exp and 2618 Mangala Exp 18th Sept; for 2617 Ernakulam-Nizamuddin Mangala Exp and 6345/6346 Netravati Exp the last service on diverted route will be on 19th September.

6336/6335 Nagarcoil-Gandhidham Weekly Exp train will remain partially cancelled between Nagarcoil and Mangalore 
and will run ex-Mangalore on Aug 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and Sept 7, 14, and 21. 
It will run ex-Gandhidham on Aug 5, 12, 19, and 26 and on Sept 2, 9, and 16.

The bi-weekly Exp now running between Nizamuddin and Mangalore will continue to run 
ex-Mangalore (635 Dn) on Aug 1, 6, 11, 17, 22, & 27 and on Sept 1, 7, 12, and 17. 
Similarly, 636 Up will run ex-Nizamuddin on Aug 4, 9, 15, 20, 25, & 30 and on Sept 5, 10, 15 & 20 Sept.

Train No. 465 Dn will run ex-Mangalore on Aug 4, 10, 15, 20, 25, & 31 and on Sept 5, 10, 15, and 21. 
Train no. 466 Up will run ex-Nizamuddin on Aug 2, 8, 13, 18, 23, & 29 and on Sept 3, 8, 13, and 19.

2617 Mangala Exp will leave from Ernakulam Jn at 1155 hrs and reach Nizamuddin at 0430 hrs. 
The 2618 Mangala Exp ex- Nizamuddin will start at 0955 hrs and reach Ernakulam Jn at 0145 hrs.

2431 Rajdhani Exp will leave from Trivandrum at 1915 hrs and reach Nizamuddin at 1630 hrs, 
while 2432 will leave from Nizamuddin at 1100 hrs and reach Trivandrum at 0815 hrs.

6345 Dn Netravati exp will leave from Kurla (LTT) at 1145 hrs and reach Trivandrum at 0745 hrs ,
while 6346 will leave from Trivandrum at 1000 hrs and reach LTT at 0330 hrs.
