| OK, I'm not really into motorcycles, but my best friend Ashley is. She's a Biker, and rides a Honda Shadow VT-600. One day she asks me a simple enough question: "Why doesn't my bike have emergency flashers?" and (uh oh) "Can you put emergency flashers on my bike? Well, I know a little about complex electrical circuits and looked into it. I found the electrical wiring diagram for her bike and examined the turn signal setup. I then examined several Automotive turnsignal/ Hazard wiring systems, and settled on one that I felt would be the easiest to adapt. (99 Lexus RX300, which uses a highly integrated flasher unit.) I wanted to keep the bike as stock as possible and not modify any exisiting harnesses. I noticed that the Turnsignal switch uses a standard 9-terminal connector, so off I went to Google and found a supplier. Having the flasher, connectors and a neat little device called an "Autoswitch", I fabricated my little adaptor harness, plugged it in and.... of course it worked! Here's the pics.... |

| (to right)The Schematic. I drew this out on paper before doing anything. This represents an interesting combination of Honda Motorcycle and Toyota Automotive technology. (below) The finished product, uninstalled. It worked through an entire season including a trip from Chicago to Sturgis. Presumably still working. |

| The Turnsignal flasher. This unit integrates much of the circuitry which is commonly part of a specialized Hazard Switch. This unit requires only a SPST hazard switch. (or relay) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
